Don Knutzen passed away on Sunday, May 25 after a long illness. Don started Club #195 in West Long Angeles sometime in the 1980s and ran it until 2000. His club was known for providing bagels as part of the refreshments. It was a brilliant idea, since the club met at 10 A.M. on Saturday mornings, and we still provide bagels today. Don was also a fine person outside the SCRABBLE game. He will be missed.
-- Bruce D'Ambrosio, Director, Club #195
"Just returned home from attending the wedding of Marty Gabriel and Daiva Markelis (NSA Club #340 members) in Oak Park, IL. An altogether wonderful experience."

Gladys Rood passed away on November 13, 2003, her regular SCRABBLE club day. For over 27 years, Gladys played in various Michigan SCRABBLE clubs. She left us with grand memories of her gracious spirit and lust for life; and her love of words took many forms. To know her was to love her ... even if she did beat you at your last tournament.
