SCRABBLE(R) ALL-STARS To Be Rescheduled

[Event logo]

June 6th, 2003

The National SCRABBLE® Association has announced that the SCRABBLE® ALL-STARS CHAMPIONSHIP 2003 set for June 16-19 in Connecticut is being rescheduled.

The NSA has been working non-stop with Hasbro, ESPN and Mohegan Sun for weeks to keep the tournament on schedule, but there are still some outstanding legal and productions issues between these entities that are completely out of the NSA's control.

As you know, we have been saying all along that this could happen and, unfortunately, it has. For years NSA members have been asking for corporate cosponsorship and this is one of the downsides of it. Each partner has its own set of priorities, concerns, attorneys, PR staff, marketing executives, etc. When we work out of the usual Hasbro/NSA mode, the entire process becomes more lengthy and complicated.

The good news is that the event is still on. We expect it to be moved to the week of July 7th or July 14th. We will confirm this absolutely as soon as possible -- hopefully within two weeks at the latest.

The NSA knows that many of the invited players have already made travel plans, arranged vacation time and made other sacrifices and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility. And while this rescheduling is disappointing we must all keep on minds on the ultimate goal -- a first-ever nationally televised SCRABBLE® match watched by millions of people. It's something we've all been working toward for over 20 years.

Thanks
