SCRABBLE EXPERTS VIE FOR $100,000 IN PROVIDENCE ALL*STAR CHAMPIONSHIP
ESPN TO TELECAST FINALS

WHEN: August 16-18

WHERE: Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI

WHY: The first SCRABBLE match ever televised. ESPN will tape and telecast this fall.

WHO: 24 SCRABBLE Champions from the USA & Canada.

HOW: Experts go head-to-head for three days, eight hours a day. Final s begin Monday late morning, August 18th, when two finalists play a best-of-five match for the $50,000.00 first prize. Total cash prizes are over $100,000.

IT'S DEFINITELY NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S SCRABBLE GAME!

Look for words like ZARF (a plastic coffee cup holder), QAT (a shrub),CWM (a deep-walled basin) and XIPHOID (part of the sternum).
