The official word source for school play is the Official SCRABBLE® Players Dictionary, Third Edition (OSPD3) as modified below. The changes listed in this page are current for the 2001 championship season.
Deleted Words
The following words which may appear in some printings of OSPD3 are no longer acceptable:
DA, DEI, DES, KEV, VIN (-S), VON, STRID, HANGULS, LICENTI, SKIWEARS, FOOTWEARS, KNITWEARS, MENSWEARS, NECKWEARS, PDQ, PLAYWEARS, RAINWEARS, SWIMWEARS, TOWNWEARS, TENIASISES.
Added Words
The following words are acceptable, even though they may not appear in some printings of OSPD3:
BACKDROPT, BACKSTAB (-S) (-BED) (-BING), BASSETT (-S), BEDSIT (-S), CHEMO (-S), DECLAW (-S) (-ED) (-ING), ESTHETICS, FINALISE (-S) (-D) (-SING), IGNORAMI, ILLER, ILLEST, LATTE (-S), LEPIDOTES, LOUVRED, MAGLEVS, PETRALE (-S), PINEALS, PREMIXT, PYROLIZE (-D) (-S) (-ZING), REDTAIL (-S), RHYTONS, SEVRUGA (-S), SILKIES, SMOOTHES, SPAETZLES, TENIASES, TRAPEZII, UNSELL (-S) (-ING), VOGUER (-S), WHINGING.

"SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game" is the proper way to refer to this unique group of word games and related properties marketed by HASBRO. "SCRABBLE®" is not a generic term. To use it as such is not only misleading but also does injustice to the company responsible for the trademark's longtime popularity. All we ask is that when you mean SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game, you say so.
