Parents and coaches gathered around their teams
Stephanie Price-Cortez (age 13, grade 8) plays her blue teammate, Stephanie Smith (age 12, grade 8), while Dr. Ezeh watches on. They are all from Rebecca Johnson in Springfield, a K-8 public school. Ezeh is the 925-student school's assistant principal as well as SCRABBLE® coach.
Sullivan-Worcester's coach, John Bierfeldt, and his green team: Robert Lamoureux (age 13, grade 8) and Michael Pandolfo (age 13, grade 8). When he isn't taking on the role of SCRABBLE® coach, Bierfeldt is principal to 1,004 students, six of whom attended the MSSC.
