Joel Wapnick (Montréal, QC) qualifies to attend as the reigning Canadian SCRABBLE® Champion.
Three other players qualified on the basis of their qualifying ratings, based on a minimum of 60 games played between February 1, 1998 and May 31, 1999. Zev Kaufman also qualified in this category, but is unable to participate this year.
The remaining two players were determined by a World SCRABBLE® Championship Qualifying Tournament held on June 19th and 20th at the home of NSA Club #3 (Toronto, ON) at Earl Bales Community Centre. It was organised by John Chew and directed by Joel Wapnick and David Boys.
